Step 1:
Apply to AEC & Get Your Acceptance Letter
Submit your AEC Application, required documents, and $160 application fee.
Required Documents:
- Passport (photo page)
- Current F-1 Visa and I-94
- Current/most recent I-20
- Bank statement showing at least $21,000 USD for 1 year I-20 duration
- Sponsor letter (if applicable)
Once accepted, we’ll issue your Acceptance Letter and Transfer-In Form to begin your SEVIS transfer.
Step 2
Coordinate your SEVIS Release
Take your AEC Acceptance Letter to your school’s DSO and request a SEVIS transfer.
- Complete your school’s Transfer-out Process
- AEC will continue to follow up to ensure seamless transfer
Important: You must continue to maintain your lawful F-1 status until the transfer release date. This includes following all attendance requirements if you are currently in an active session, or initiating the transfer within your 60-day grace period if you have completed your program.
Step 3
Receive Your New AEC I-20
On your Transfer Release Date, AEC gains access to your SEVIS record.
Timeline: Our Dedicated DSOs will issue your new “Transfer Pending” I-20 within 1–2 business days after your SEVIS record is released to us.
- No SEVIS Fee: You do not need to pay a new $350 SEVIS fee.
- Travel: You can use your new I-20 to travel and re-enter the U.S. (provided your F-1 visa is still valid).
Step 4
Orientation & First Day of Class
Once you have your AEC I-20, you are ready to join our community!
- Report to AEC by your program start date for SEVIS "check-in."
- Take your English Placement Test.
- Complete your New Student Orientation.
Status Support
Terminated Or Expired I-20s
Your status is our priority. If your current I-20 has been terminated or you have fallen out of status, you may still be able to study at AEC. Our Knowledgeable Advisors have extensive experience in status recovery cases.
Option A
Reinstatement
We can issue an I-20 for "Reinstatement" so you can apply to USCIS to regain your status without leaving the U.S.
Option B
Initial Entry (Travel & Re-entry)
We can issue a new "Initial" I-20. You would travel outside the U.S. and return with a new SEVIS record to restart your status.
